3D radiographic diagnostics

Why is it worth doing 3D imaging?

A 3D X-ray scan is painless, takes just a moment, and requires no preparation. Thanks to it, the dentist can comprehensively assess the condition and structure of your teeth. Even the most thorough dental examination isn’t always enough to properly diagnose a patient. That’s why dentists are increasingly using modern technologies, such as 3D radiography. With 3D imaging, the doctor gains complete information about the teeth from every angle. They can even see inside the teeth and bones, which gives them a full picture of the patient’s condition. As a result, the dentist can identify issues that are impossible to see during a “standard” check-up. At the same time, 3D images help dentists clearly explain the situation to patients in an accessible way.
Why is it worth it?

3D X-ray – a reliable way to properly diagnose the patient

Not every patient’s problem can be diagnosed during a “standard” dental examination. Some conditions can only be seen with modern equipment, such as an X-ray machine. 3D X-ray allows dentists to reach a higher level of diagnostics. 3D imaging is particularly important for diagnosing periodontal and pulp diseases, as well as inflammations. Thanks to it, making the right diagnosis and finding the most effective treatment becomes much easier!

3D imaging – who should have it?

Should every patient get a 3D X-ray during a dental visit? If they have no complaints and their teeth show no suspicious symptoms, it isn’t necessary. However, there are often situations where a more detailed look inside the teeth is needed, or when the patient suffers from persistent pain whose cause can’t be identified during a “standard” examination. In such cases, a 3D X-ray may be essential to make the correct diagnosis and find the root of the problem. It’s worth remembering that the procedure is painless, and the amount of radiation used in dental imaging is truly minimal and has no negative impact on the patient’s health.

X-RAY INFORMATION

Information on the impact of the activities carried out by the organizational unit on human health and the environment
NZOZ “Z WIEŻY DENTYSTA” 84-120 Władysławowo, 8B Rybacka St, Apt U4 and U5

Legal basis: Atomic Law Act / Journal of Laws 2019, item 1792 / pursuant to Art. 32c point 2

The unit performs activities involving exposure to ionizing radiation, namely:

  • Operating and using devices generating ionizing radiation:

    • HELIODENT PLUS intraoral dental X-ray unit

    • ORTHOPHOS XG panoramic X-ray unit with cephalometric attachment

  • Operation of the radiology lab based on PWIS decision no. 118-HR/Z/P/15 of 23.10.2015

The unit monitors employee exposure using individual dosimeters – over the past 12 months (from 21.01.2019 to 20.01.2020), the measured effective dose was <6 mSv.

The unit performed dosimetric measurements of permanent shielding. Based on the measurement results and the predicted exposure time to ionizing radiation, it has been determined that under normal operation of the X-ray units, and in compliance with radiological protection principles, the dose limits (in accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on ionizing radiation dose limits / Journal of Laws 2005 No. 20 item 168 / and the Regulation of the Minister of Health on detailed conditions for the safe use of radiological equipment / Journal of Laws 2006 No. 180 item 1325) are not exceeded.

According to the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on ionizing radiation dose limits / Journal of Laws 2005 item 168 / the permissible annual dose of ionizing radiation exposure is:

  • Employees: 20 mSv/year

  • General public: 1 mSv/year

Note:
Based on the measured and calculated doses, it has been determined that the activity carried out over the past 12 months had no negative impact on human health or the environment.
The radiology lab does not release radioactive substances into the environment.
